A Home That Commands Attention Without Raising Its Voice
Where Classical Elegance Meets Contemporary Form
There is a particular kind of luxury that does not announce itself loudly. It reveals itself slowly — in the weight of a leather panel, the curve of a dining chair, the glow of a light fixture that seems to float above the room.
Modern Lux was designed for a client who wanted the grandeur of classical interiors without the heaviness that often comes with it. The brief was precise: keep the form clean and modern, but let the details carry the richness.
The result is a home where every surface has been considered. Fluted wall panels in muted grey run throughout the living and dining spaces — subtle enough to recede, refined enough to define. Herringbone timber flooring grounds the space with warmth, its geometric pattern echoing the classical references without quoting them directly. Decorative ceiling mouldings frame each room with quiet authority, a nod to traditional craftsmanship delivered in a thoroughly contemporary context.
The kitchen island is the centrepiece of the social space — designed not just as a cooking surface but as a hosting platform. Finished in a warm amber-toned timber with an integrated wine display and bar area, it transforms the kitchen into a destination. Guests gather here. Conversations start here. The island acts as the boundary between the open-plan living area and the kitchen proper, defining zones without walls.
Above it, a sculptural Barrisol wave ceiling feature provides the wow moment the client asked for — a fluid, luminous form that catches light from every angle and changes character from morning to evening. Paired with bespoke pendant lighting in the dining area — an organic chandelier that echoes the same fluid language — the lighting design elevates every meal into an occasion.
Throughout the apartment, luxury lives in the small things. Leather-wrapped panel inserts in the cabinetry. Brass hardware at every handle and junction. Marble surfaces selected for their movement and warmth, not just their finish. Upholstered dining chairs in caramel tones that bridge the amber of the island and the grey of the walls. Nothing here is accidental. Every detail was chosen to contribute to a whole that feels both collected and completely intentional.
This is not a show apartment. It is a home designed for someone who knows exactly what they want — and was willing to wait for it to be done right.
